On June 1st, the WHO Independent High-level Commission on NCDs (Non-Communicable Diseases) published “Time to deliver: Report of the WHO Independent High-Level Commission on Noncommunicable Disease” which highlighted key recommendations to accelerate progress towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target 3.4*. In response to this report, the NCD Alliance, a collaborative platform participated in by approximately 2000 civil society organizations and academic associations that has expanded to around 170 countries, and over 200 civil society organisations declared a statement (“Time to Deliver in 2018: Bolder Commitments and Action Needed to Reverse the Tide of Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health Disorders”). Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) aligns with the points outlined and has co-signed this civil society statement.
In order to confront the current situation and challenges in NCDs prevention and control, HGPI will continue to promote this momentum as Japan’s official NCD Alliance point-of contact.
